Alessandro Simoncini graduated with top honors and distinction from the Milan Conservatory G. Verdi, under the guidance of Maestro Paolo Borciani. He attended the chamber music school of Maestro Franco Rossi at the Florence Conservatory for over three years.

Since 1982, he has dedicated himself to the string quartet with his brother Luca, Luigi Mazza, and Demetrio Comuzzi.

Together they formed the Nuovo Quartetto Italiano (New Italian Quartet), a name suggested by the Masters of the famous Quartetto Italiano, who first oversaw their individual preparation and then their training as a quartet.

He soon earned the highest recognitions: for two consecutive years, the Diploma of Honor from the Chigiana Academy in Siena, the Pescara Academy, and the Staatliche Musikschule in Karlsruhe. He won the Dragoni award from the scuola di musica di Fiesole. He has performed in the most important Italian and international music institutions (Europe, Japan, United States, Russia).

The Quartet collaborated for a decade with the tenor José Carreras on prestigious world tours and since 1993 with the singer-songwriter Franco Battiato on all his concerts and record recordings.

They have received the highest accolades from specialized critics: Golden Star, CHOC de la MUSIQUE, Prestige, Grand Prix du Disque, for their recordings with labels like Claves, EMI, ADDA, and NUOVA ERA.
